As the Global President of the United Cities and local Governments (UCLG), Kadir Topbaş, Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, was invited as the speaker at the Economic and Social Council Meeting of the United Nations in representation of the local administrations around the globe.
Travelling to USA for the meeting that will be held in New York main office of the UN, Topbaş will attend the First Integration Meeting of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
The Mayor Topbaş holds office at the 26-member High Level Board of Elites for The Developmental Agenda after 2015, which is characterised as the intelligence group of Ban Ki-Moon, the Secretariat General of the UN, and will be addressing to the participants in representation of all local and regional administration networks around the world.
The opening speeches will be give by Vladimir Drobnyak, the Deputy Chairman of ECOSOC, John Ashe, the Chairman of Board of Directors of the UN, Ban Ki-Moon, the Secretariat General of the UN, and Joan Clos, the Executive Manager of UNHABITAT for the meeting that will be held in New York main office of the UN.
The United Nations system has been conducting works to determine the Developmental Agenda and Sustainable Development Targets After 2015 that runs New York main office of the UN to One Thousand Years of Targets for Development as a result of the negotiations and discussions with the member states, non-governmental organisations and private sector representatives since 2012.
Previously invited for the opening session of the Board of Directors for the UN for addressing the Political Senior Board, Topbaş also hols office as the President for the United Nations Advisory Committee of Local Authorities (UNACLA).
